Chicago ICSC Deal-Making is positive and upbeat

As the first day of the Chicago ICSC deal-making conference wraps up, I can reflect on the mood of the show as being positive and upbeat.  We’ve already met with several retailers that are looking to expand their retail footprint, including Rue 21, Children’s Place and Ulta, to name a few.  Some retailers are looking to backfill for 2012, however the majority of new deal discussions are centering around the beginning of 2013.
A pleasently surprising trend that we are seeing at at the booth this year is retailer’s stopping by who don’t already have appointments, wanting to speak to someone regarding expansion within a specific market.  We typically don’t have as many drop-ins, but are happy to accommodate our retailers and connect them with the right leasing specialist.

I’m looking forward to the rest of the show and hope the retailers continue to stop by the Jones Lang LaSalle meeting space #M309.
